Power Song Story with Stephen Brewster - Fly
Have you ever been a part of something so surreal that it left you questioning the boundary between the earthly and the divine? In this power song story with Stephen Brewster he shares an incredible story that embodies this. He takes us through a worship night that transcended the ordinary during the Jason Upton "Remember," album recording. This was the night where the song "Fly" became a vessel for the supernatural to happen. Tune is to hear Brewster share this powerful story reveling the mystifying series of events following the playback of the track.
All right, we're here with Steve Brewster again. Steven Brewster, Steve Brewster, yeah, who knows? Brewster B? B in Brewster's email.
Stephen Brewster:Yeah, I mean, it makes it easy. Sorry, I shouldn't say your email. You can say it. I didn't say it was a dot, you can say it.
Chris Estes:Okay, so we're going to talk about a power song story that, uh, bruce, are you been involved in or has it impacted you? Um, actually don't know what the song is, so I'm going to hand it off to you and let you tell about it.
Stephen Brewster:Yeah, I mean when we did the Jason Upton project, uh, there was a song called fly, yeah, and uh, like there's folklore. But I was there and like the folklore is you can hear an angel on the track.
Chris Estes:Yeah, yeah, yeah Okay.
Stephen Brewster:And so we were. So where were you? So we were in Cool Springs, right Like from where we're sitting doing this interview right now. It's probably seven minutes away from where we were, okay, and we were in a church service and we recorded like the worship night and then we left and we recorded like the worship night and then then we left and we went to eat and then we came back two days later. That church had a studio and we were working in that studio and we're listening back through it and we're we're all like what is that? What's that sound? What's that sound Like? What is that? We don't know what that is Like.
Chris Estes:That's not an instrument, it's not we can't even figure out like which line.
Stephen Brewster:It's on multiple lines, like like tracks, it's on multiple different stems. And so we're like what is it? What is it? And then, like the next day, one of the intercessors came in and said um hey, when I was praying during the recording, I saw an angel, angel. And then Jason was like. There was a little boy who walked up to me after that night and said he saw an angel over me when I was singing. He's like and I just thought you know whatever. And it's like to this day, I'll go watch it on YouTube. The video's not there, but I'll go listen to it on YouTube because I don't think it's on DSPs anymore, and so I'll go on YouTube. The video's not there, but I'll go listen to it on YouTube, yeah, because I don't think it's on DSPs anymore. And so I'll go on YouTube and listen to it.
Chris Estes:And you're like oh my gosh, what does it sound like?
Stephen Brewster:It's in a very flowy part of the song. Yeah, so it's more melody than it is like lyric. Yeah, but Jason was singing. Do you see what I see? Do you hear what I hear? Oh, wow. And then you could hear it happening at the same time. So that was pretty powerful. That's powerful. What did Jason think? I mean, that's like a Tuesday for him.
Chris Estes:He's like yep normal. Yeah, I don't have to pay them a royalty, not even a work for hire, right? Yeah, that's crazy man. So so it's not on DSP's YouTube. I don't think it is.
Stephen Brewster:I don't think it is was it his first album, or was it? It would have been on the Faith album, okay and so, but I know for sure it's on YouTube. Yeah, the the song's called Fly.
Chris Estes:There you go, check it out, guys Fly.
